Seoul National University Hospital to Install Insightec’s Exablate Neuro Platform


Insightec announced that Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) is installing the company’s Exablate Neuro (Exablate 4000) platform, which uses focused ultrasound to ablate targets deep in the brain for therapeutic effect .

“Focused ultrasound provides a precision tool for neurosurgical treatments,” said Kim Seung-Ki, head of neurosurgery at SNUH in Seoul, South Korea. “Clinical evidence has demonstrated a positive impact on the quality of life of patients with a favorable safety profile.”

According to a press release from Insightec, 81 leading medical centers around the world have implemented targeted ultrasound programs with the Exablate Neuro platform. Insightec is partnering with Huons, a pharmaceutical manufacturer and distributor of medical solutions, to bring focused ultrasound to Korean healthcare systems.
